We turn up at Lego's studio at noon. His studio is in a warehouse district in Kowloon. It's freakishly quiet here - a dead zone stuck between the bustle of Nathan Road and a funeral house.
We wanted to do a live recording and Koya liked that idea too so we were all on the same page. It took between two to five recordings before we got the final take of each song which is good going, I think.
Malte's arms start to ache after drumming at 200 bpm and my lead in Something in the Water sounds like I learned to play guitar yesterday so we take a walk to the 7-11 for a break. Sometimes you get so involved in the recording process that you forget you've been playing solidly for hours and that you're tired and have lost the inspiration.
At 5:00pm we're about to call it a day but decide to do one more song, Nothing. We were taking a chance on it because it's a new song and we weren't sure how long it would take us to get it right. We nail it in two takes and end on a good note.
